What Fisho Does
Fisho is an AI-powered fish identification app that helps you identify fish species from photos. We believe in privacy-first design and local processing whenever possible.
Information We Collect
Photos and Images
- What: Photos you take or select for fish analysis
- How: Through the app's camera or photo selection
- Purpose: AI-powered fish species identification
- Storage: Photos remain on your device only
User Corrections
- What: Corrections you make to AI predictions (species name, size estimates)
- How: When you use the "Correct Prediction" feature
- Current Status: Stored locally on your device only
- Future Plans: We may ask for permission to share anonymous correction data to improve AI accuracy
- Your Choice: Any future data sharing would be completely optional
Technical Information
- What: Basic app usage data, error logs, device type, iOS version
- How: Automatically collected when you use the app
- Purpose: Fix bugs and improve app performance
- Details: No personal identifiers, completely anonymous
Information We DO NOT Collect
- Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Your photos are not stored on our servers
- Browsing history or other app usage

How We Process Your Data
Local Processing First
- Fish analysis happens on your device when possible
- Photos may be temporarily sent to our AI service for complex analysis
- Images sent for analysis are immediately deleted after processing
- No photos are stored on our servers
Your Corrections
- Currently: All corrections are stored only on your device
- Future: We may ask permission to share anonymous correction data
- No photos would ever be included in any data sharing
- All shared data would be completely anonymous
Data Sharing Policy
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone.
Limited Sharing (Anonymous Only)
- Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics may be shared with AI research partners

How We Protect Your Data
On Your Device
- Photos remain in your device's photo library under iOS protection
- App settings and corrections stored in secure local storage
- No cloud backup of sensitive data
In Transit
- All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3)
- Photos sent for analysis are encrypted during transmission
- Images are immediately deleted after processing
Data Retention
- Photos: Never stored on our servers
- Corrections: Stored locally on your device indefinitely
- Technical logs: Kept for up to 1 year for debugging
Your Rights and Control
Photo Access
- You can revoke photo library access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos
- You can delete photos from your device at any time
- App will continue to work with photos you explicitly select
Data Control
- All correction data is stored locally - you have complete control
- Delete the app to remove all local data
- Contact us to request information about any server-side data
- Right to request deletion of any data we may have
App Permissions
Fisho requests only essential permissions:
- Camera: To take photos of fish (optional)
- Photo Library: To select existing photos (optional)
Children's Privacy
Fisho is designed to be safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately for removal.
Changes to This Policy

- Changes will be posted within the app and on this page
- Significant changes will require your consent

Third-Party Services
Fisho may use these third-party services under strict privacy agreements:

International Users
By using Fisho, users outside the United States consent to the transfer and processing of anonymous technical data in the United States, where our servers are located. No personal information or photos are transferred.
